Avon Red is a new erotica line from Avon Romance.

The line will launch in June with two anthologies and will publish one book a month in both trade paper and e-book editions. According to Executive Editor Lucia Macro ""These stories are more than just steamy romances. They take readers farther than they've gone before, exploring fantasies that have no limits." Editors are interested in all kinds of erotica, including historical, paranormal and ethnic erotic fiction. According to an Avon press release "Avon Red novels are not justabout sex; they focus on desire, and each novel/novella features powerful plot lines, apart from the more explicit content. These books are not traditional romances - there may not be a happily ever after; the stories may not focus on solely two romantic protagonists. Silhouette has a name for its new paranormal line -- it will be calledNocturne.

Featuring dark paranormal romance, Nocturne will launch in October 2006 with two books a month. 70,000-75,000 words. Senior editor Leslie Wanger is overseeing the project from Silhouette's New York office. The Hendrickson Memorial Prize for short fiction is sponsored by Dirt Press.

The 2006 prize will be awarded to the best short fiction exhibiting the traits of "directness in language and authenticity of spirit." Entries must be between 1,000 and 5,000 words.
