Pioneer Woman goes High Tech Part II

He. He. He. Picture this. Jan hires a guy to level out the ground around her new writer's retreat and a Tim McGraw (without the moustache) look-a-like shows up with a bulldozer. Helllllooo there!!!

So guess who got to watch hunkie work through the living room window while she put together her new CHAINSAW!!!

Yes Jan, hermit to pioneer woman to High Tech Gal has got herself a brand spanking new chainsaw all ready to go...do you think I should ask this guy to show me how it works? I mean the chainsaw, ladies!!! LOL.

Nah no can do. He's happily married. However my mom and dad did drop in while he was here and invited him in (and his older brother who is also taken and is an older cute version of Tim) for coffee. Nice of them eh? *giggle*

Anyways hunkie is coming over again next week to finish the job. Hmm anybody have any suggestions on how we should thank him? He he he ;-)

jan, who still has no idea how the chainsaw works! :-(

New submissions call from Ellora's Cave

This just down the pipeline from Ellora's Cave - New opportunities for non-EC authors!

From Raelene Gorlinski, Publisher - Ellora's Cave (Permission to post)

"We've got so many exciting things going on, people may have lost
track. So here's a summary of the special series and themes and new
lines for this year and next. Please note that all these are open to
not-yet-EC authors, so feel free to spread the word to your author
friends and to writing groups you belong to.

Fun in the Sun Quickie series – Releasing in June 2006, so if you
are participating in this, you should have the story turned in
already, right?

Autumn Animalia Quickie series – Releasing September 2006. Theme is
shapeshifters or a strong animal character in the story. Stories
must be to your editor for review/acceptance by end of June at the
latest, all editing done and final ms turned in by early August.

Wild Winter Quickie series. Releases December 2006. Theme is winter
holidays. Stories to your editor by end of September, editing
complete by early November.

New erotica line at EC (name tbd): We hope to launch in late 2006,
and are accepting submissions now. This will be a line of erotica,
not erotic romance. Basically the same sexuality level as E-rated EC
stories, the same taboos. But it doesn't have to be a "romance" –
doesn't need commitment or an HEA – although it certainly can have
romantic elements. The focus is on the sexual relationship instead
of the romantic one. Stories can be 10K to 100K.

New Traditional Regency line at Cerridwen (name tbd): Standard sweet
Traditional Regencies. Story length 50-75K. Historical accuracy is
very important. Only new stories, not reprints. Taking submissions
now. Particularly interested in authors previously published in this
genre. Planning to launch in late 2006.
NOTE: We already accept Regency-set Historicals at Cerridwen, and
erotic Regencies at EC.

2007 Tarot theme stories: Stories can be any EC length or genre.
Must specify a Tarot card that is the "theme" of the story. For
existing EC authors, submit to your editor a detailed full-story
synopsis and 8-10K words. Outside submissions must be full
manuscript.

2007 Ellora's Cavemen anthology series: Submissions close Sept. 30;
selections will be made by Dec. 31. Any genre, 10-12K, preferably E
rated, send to Martha@ellorascave.com."

Thanks,

He's dangerous, tastes of dark, delicious sex and unleashes lusty cravings she never knew she had. Although there can be no future with a sexy man accused of murder, she's willing to do whatever it takes to keep him in her life and in her bed.

He needs to remember his past

She smells of sweet peppermint and makes him burn with hot desire. He wants her, needs to be deep inside her and yearns to forget the terror-filled flashbacks that haunt him.

Crooked cops and a romantic ghost town hold the secrets to his mysterious past, and if he's ever going to give her a future they both crave, he'll have to prove his innocence, even if it means facing his dangerous past head on.

Note: This book was previously released at a different publisher. It has been extended and extensively revised to express the steamier side of suspense.

From Hi Tech Girl to Pioneer Woman!

Have mercy!

Have you ever had one of those days when you just get weary of roughin it? LOL
Because of the fast spring thaw around these parts my beautiful innocent little stream beside my house turned into a raging river and scared the bejeepers out of me.

My tiny house is only ten feet away from this gorgeous stream and when I awoke in the middle of the night to the roar of running water ripping through my open window I had the feeling I was in trouble. And sure enough as I checked my sump well in the basement THE WATER WAS RISING a half an inch every half an hour!!!! OMG!! And I had no sump pump! Aiiiiiii.

On pins and needles all night I waited and watched the water rise and then in the morning I placed a call into my builder who was so kind0 to take pity on this pioneer woman and sent over a fellow right away to put in a sump pump...nice fellow Hi Rob! Anyways a flooded basement was narrowly averted.

And then it started to rain...and I had to dig a ditch around my house to keep the water from flooding my front and backyards...and my basement yet again.

And then when I tried to get my car out of the quickly flooding driveway the little car GOT STUCK!!! It took me over an hour to get out of the mud...Have mercy!!! I need a shot of whiskey and will place a call in for loads and loads of much needed gravel to fortify my writer's nest.

Anyone else just have "one of those days"??? Please share cause I'd love to hear it!! Misery loves company. LOL.

jan, nursing a headache...or is it a hangover.
